Upcoming Artists Sing a New Song in 2015

Resolutions fill the New Year, some as big as winning a Grammy. And certain artists will do just that. Whether they’ve been around for a couple years or are now producing their first album, these go-getter musicians will see hard work pay off this year. Keep your ears open for the following entertainers.

FKA Twigs

Her stage name is as radical and innovative as her music. A blend between electric pop and smooth R&B, her abstract style has traveled overseas. England native Tahliah Barnett made her American debut on “Jimmy Fallon” where she performed her single “Two Weeks” from her second album EP2 (2014). The 26-year-old multi-racial musician poses as a double threat. A strong background in dance and a soft, soprano voice creates for creative performances. Now that her music has appeared internationally, nothing can stop her domination in 2015.

Logic

New rap artists tend to lose sight of meaningful lyrics in the mainstream world. Maryland-based rapper Sir Robert Bryson Hall, “Logic,” uses the pain from his childhood and several old school influences to produce touching hit singles. His mentors range from Wu Tang Clan to Frank Sinatra, giving his rhymes diversity. Though Logic has produced mixtapes since 2010, his latest album in 2014, “Under Pressure,” officially flaunted his talent. Selling 73,000 copies in the first week, the debut album charted no. 4 on “Billboard 200.” His humble nature and honesty will bring meaning back to rap.

Tove Lo

“Habits (Stay High),” the catchy 2014 single from Swedish singer Tove Lo, reached listeners nationally playing non-stop on radio stations. Her first album, Queen of the Clouds, produced in 2014, played a crucial role in defining pop music for the future. Already popular for her performances with VH1 and MTV, the spunky pop chick created an inevitable road to fame. She is also kicking off the year by spreading her talent into Europe in countries like Germany, France, and her native land, Sweden. Her home country will welcome her as she returns from a year’s hard work.
