Students ‘Fall’ Into Fresh Trends

When a new season arrives new trends are set by the amazingly talented designers on the runways.  This fall over-the-knee boots, knit beanies, slouchy pants, emerald green, plaid and turtle necks (yes, turtle necks) are “in” according to glamour.com.

Knit beanies

Knit beanies have been popular for a while among not only women but men.  They are comfortable and affordable which makes them practical. Beanies are now known as “fall’s hottest head gear trend.”

Over-the-knee boots

Over-the-knee boots are all about being bold. Black is obviously more versatile, but you can purchase a brown pair.  You will be making a pretty big investment so make sure they hit perfectly above your knee-cap and the beginning of your thigh for them to be most flattering or else you may be turning heads (not in a good way).

Senior Hannah McLaughlin will definitely be wearing the over-the-knee boot trend. “Boots are my favorite type of shoe to wear.  They’re really cute and are a seasonal shoe,” McLaughlin said, “Boots make me feel confident in a way.  I feel in tune with the weather and the atmosphere of fall when I wear them.”

Turtle necks

The turtleneck is definitely wearable, but I am not sure how quickly the trend will catch on with our generation. This trend gives you the perfect opportunity to pair a plain turtleneck sweater with your layerable statement necklaces, without them being too much.

Slouchy pants

Slouchy pants are comfy, but fit in an unbelievably flattering way.  The desired trend is looser and far more passive. The must-have fit is faintly tapered at the ankles.  Most are high-wasted or low rise.

Plaid

Plaid has also been popular for a while, but just recently it was featured on the runways. Coats, printed shirts, shoes plaid is basically available on any piece of clothing purchasable.

Shades of Green

There are shades of green that will flatter all skin types.  From coats to gloves to tops to dresses you cannot go wrong with the color.

Project Fashion member Natasha Meinzen will absolutely wear shades of green this fall.  “Green is an earth tone color which is why it is one of my favorite colors,” Meinzen said.

Junior Catherine Kerber thinks the color green is very wearable. “Well emerald green is really versatile, like you could have an emerald skirt or shirt or scarf or coat,” Kerber said.

Start buying falls hottest trends or you’ll start falling behind.
