The Tigers crushed the Kahoks 33-7 with a home victory last Friday, giving them their first conference win and advance to 3-0 on the season.

“The game started off rough in the first half,” senior running back Kendell Davis said. “There were many turnovers and miss alignments by our defense.”

The Kahoks were the first to score in the second quarter, but that was the only lead they would have for the night. The Tigers were quick to respond after senior quarterback Riley Jones answered with a 1-yard touchodown rush.

“We trust Riley to run and pass the ball. He’s big and physical,” Davis said. “When he feels pressure he will take off.”

The Tigers scored again before the half was over but were not able to convert on the extra point, making the score going into the third quarter 13-7.

“We started out a little rough but after halftime got it together and our defense played very well in the second half,” senior wide receiver Quentin Dissen said.

During the third quarter, the Tigers were able to score three touchdowns with a 25-yard pass to Nathan Kolesa and two 15-yard runs by Jackson Morrissey and Davis.

“We started moving the ball more and getting more stops on defense,” Davis said. “There were many forced turnovers by our defense as well which boosted our intensity.”

The Tigers led the game 33-7 at the end of the third, which was the final score for the night.

Junior safety Jason Queen said he really looks up to his older teammates and has a tremendous respect for how much heart and leadership they show.
“It’s a good feeling watching them play. You learn how to carry the team for next year.”

There are high hopes for the boys to win conference and advance further in the post season this year, according to Davis. “I feel like the time has gone by fast. It feels like just yesterday I was a freshman sitting in orange rush dreaming of playing varsity.”

The Tigers travel to O’Fallon Friday for a key SWC match up against the Panthers.
