Another Friday of new music has come and gone and big names like Lil Yachty, Khalid, Juice Wrld and Future have all come out with projects.

But one in particular stands out: Northsbest by Lil Mosey.

“Creating Northsbest has been crazy,” Mosey said to Billboard. “If people didn’t know much about me before, they do now.”

The 16-year-old Seattle rapper first burst on to the when he came out with his hit single “Pull Up” on Dec. 7, 2017. The single has reached over 18 million views on YouTube and was on the Apple Music top charts.

His latest release contains 11 songs, four of which were previously published singles. From top to bottom Northsbest features hit after hit. “Kamikaze,” the first song on the album, has reached No. 65 on the Apple Music charts.

Other songs like “Burberry Headband,” “Rarri” and “Trapstar” have been fan favorites.

Northsbest was amazing and I really enjoyed listening to it,” junior Kaden Beeler said. “The album is straight heat.”

Senior Hannah Stuart, who has been a huge Lil Mosey fan since he blew up, concurs.

“I thought it was a really good first album for him,” she said. “He gained a big following from just one album.”

Mosey’s true calling card in this project is his self-produced beats, which contain a lot of creative synths over a steady bass. Mosey’s slight auto tuned voice makes him different than a lot of the mumble rap heard in today’s rap game.

Senior Joe Toscano, who wasn’t a big fan of Mosey before the album released, said some of the songs are just “too good.”

‘”Greet Her’ was my favorite from the album,” he said. “I love the beat and it gives a good vibe.”

Northsbest is a great listen and might be one of the best projects of 2018.
