‘The Revenant’ Set to Impress Viewers Everywhere

From “The Great Gatsby” to “Jordan Belfort,”  Leonardo DiCaprio proves himself time and time again.

Coming off of his last Oscar nominated film, “The Wolf of Wall Street,” DiCaprio teamed up with Tom Hardy to make a two and a half hour long movie reflecting the true events of Hugh Glass’s adventures in the 1820s.

“The Revenant” is the second motion picture DiCaprio and Hardy have starred in together. In 2010, Hardy and DiCaprio worked together on Christopher Nolan’s “Inception.” The film was nominated for and won multiple Academy Awards.

The plot is centered around the late life of Hugh Glass – a fur trapper who was attacked by a bear while in the mountains and lived to tell the tale.

After crossing paths with another group of fur trappers, the men take care of Glass until they decide it is time to continue with their hunt. John Fitzgerald (Hardy) is instructed to stay with Glass until he dies. When they both realize Glass will survive, the two set out on their own to try and survive in the harsh conditions the mountains offer.

Every year it seems DiCaprio is nominated for an award, yet never wins. Could “The Revenant” break that cycle? In addition to the freezing temperatures and going in and out of rivers, DiCaprio went above and beyond by sleeping in animal carcasses.

Because the film is set in the 1800s, food was limited. DiCaprio explained to Inquisitr.com that he had to temporarily give up his vegetarianism to eat raw bison liver.

“When you see the movie, you’ll see my reaction to it,” he said. “Because Alejandro kept it in. It says it all. It was an instinctive reaction.”

DiCaprio made the call to Hardy to involve him in the making of “The Revenant.” He told Access Hollywood that Hardy is “one of the great talents of his generation.”

The new film has already been nominated for four Golden Globes, including Best Drama Motion Picture and DiCaprio is up for Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture.

“The Revenant” premieres this Friday, Jan. 8.
