Filmmakers Club Remakes into Another Year

Coming to a theater near you: EHS presents Filmmakers Club. After their first debut last year, sponsors Dave Lipe and Dene Schickedanz return to help students make it the big screen.

Filmmakers Club began last year with EHS graduates Grant Connoyer and Adelaide Lopez, and now seniors Chris Lott and Tyler Berry direct the new and returning members.

Among the returning members is senior Tristan Blair. He created the skit that playing in the Friday morning video announcement on Jan. 11.

“I thought the whole gag of cutting off the speech abruptly was funny so I just thought of the first thing that came into my head and those were the ideas we used. Chris filmed it,” Blair said.

The club is trying to organize more events, like the five-second film contest, to get more students involved.

Junior Natalie Loveridge joined because of her involvement in Broadcasting Club.

“All of the sudden, I get a text from someone in broadcasting and they said ‘Come to the filmmakers meeting.’ So I did,” Loveridge said. “I’ve already start doing things like making a five-second film.”

Though the smaller contests aim for new members, Filmmakers Club is planning to host “The Eddies” again this year after spring break. Senior Noah Robertson has already been planning for his short-film.

“I’m planning for it to be a simplistic animation about my friends, and how how they’ve affected me throughout my years in school,” Robertson said. “I’ve never done one like this ever. I like trying new things though.”

It is still unsure how different The Eddies will be this year, but last year’s winners of the “Film of the Year” category are planning on making another movie for it.

“If things go according to plan, my filmmaking partners and I will be creating a film,” Blair said. “All I can say is that it’s only a matter of perspective that determines who we can trust.”
