The Tigers boys soccer team defeated Dunlap Saturday after a previous meeting that resulted in a tie.

The final score was 4-0. Goals were made by senior Austin Toby, senior Skylar Bone, Zach Timmerman and Daniel Hentz. Senior Trey Riley had a shutout in goal for the Tigers.

Toby and Bone scored within 12 minutes of each other after a rough couple of minutes, according to Trey Riley.

“Getting a big number of goals definitely gave us a bunch of well needed confidence,” Riley said.

The win puts the Tigers record at 9-1-3, while Dunlap’s dropped to 6-2-2. This was the second time the Tigers played Dunlap, after tying to them 0-0 at the Alton Round Robin Tournament on Aug. 28.

Riley, the goal keeper, went out there with an attitude that helped him achieve what he did.

“I put forth my best effort and had the mentality of ‘they’re not getting that ball past me,’” he said.

The nine wins for the Tigers is also their ninth shutout of the season. The Tigers had to get back on track with this game, after losing their conference game to Collinsville on Tuesday. Coming out of a 19-game winning streak, the Tigers felt the pressure while playing at the Ralph Korte Stadium.
