PJs Should Stay at Home

The problem with our generation is that we have a distinct lack of motivation. This even reaches the point of dressing ourselves properly. Remember the old saying, “dress for success”? Some people are throwing it out the window.

Many people at Edwardsville High School have taken the initiative, or better, lack-there-of, to under-dress themselves. Nearly everywhere one looks, it is easy to spot someone toting their flannel pajama pants and stale T-shirts or hoodies.

Seeing this might cause you to wrinkle your nose in disgust or question, “Did this person even shower?” By coming to school in your pajamas, you are becoming “that kid” who seemingly has a nihilistic view on life. You do not want to be that person.

It is acceptable to wear such an outfit on the school-wide pajama day. Also, it could be tolerable if you do it only a few times a year. Sometimes, people just have a bad night and want to be comforted by their comfy PJs the next day.

However, if you decide that every day you will wake up, walk straight out of bed, and head to school, it will not be seen as an acceptable decision.

I promise you, it is not hard to make the early-morning switch out of your sleeping clothes to something much more publicly suitable. Even if you are simply making a switch to sweats and a plain shirt, it is still better than the wrinkly, perhaps smelly, outfit in which you slumbered.

The better you dress yourself, the more proactive you will become and the more respected you will be by your peers and teachers.
