EPIC To Hold An Epic Tailgate

Like Batman and Robin, tailgating and football pair together in a perfect harmony. This Saturday, the Tigers take on West Side High School at the EHS Sports Complex for their season opener and don’t worry, the Edwardsville Peer Influence Club (EPIC) has the tailgate covered.

The tailgate will begin at 5 p.m. in the back of the sports complex by the softball field concession stand and will include your typical tailgate food. Hot dogs, chips, drinks and snow cones will be provided for free to students who wear their student IDs to Saturday’s football game.

EPIC members will also be providing free “spirit face painting” for students wanting to take their Tiger pride to the next level. The EPIC council has announced that there will be music to get everyone excited and ready to cheer their Tigers on to a big win.

“The idea to have this tailgate came about over the summer and we’ve just sort of ran with it,” senior EPIC council member Lindsey Toenyes said. “If this one proves successful, we’ll hopefully look to have more in the future and make them bigger and better.”

“The goal of this tailgate is to get kids excited for the game but also to interest kids in the EPIC club at EHS,” Toenyes said. EPIC is a peer influence club that focuses on volunteering around the community and promoting a drug and alcohol free lifestyle.

In addition to the free food and fun this Saturday, your student ID also gets you into all regular season football games for free.

Bring your friends and your Tiger pride, because football season has arrived. The Tigers are set to kick off Saturday at 6 p.m.

Start this season in typical football fashion: in the parking lot with friends and food nearby. This Tiger tailgate is bound to be epic.
