Promposals: EHS Does It Right

The time has come where one night a year, high school girls can put away the books and transform into Cinderella for the evening.  However, now-a-days it’s not so much about the night itself; but about the way you have been asked.

The term is “promposal.”   Some boys go all out in their preparation with making a sign, planning an event or making a scene (in a good way).  All just to ask a simple question: “Will you go to prom with me?”

There are many different ways in asking a girl to prom.  Some girls like a more casual way of being asked not making a big deal out of it like junior Renee Smith.

Smith’s date brought her flowers and made a poster that said “Out of all the fish in the sea, will you go to prom with me?”  It was corny and cute at the same time.  “I don’t like having a bunch of attention on me and I get embarrassed,” Smith said.

On the flip side, senior Kortney Dunbar was asked by her date in a little more elaborate way.  Dunbar date took advantage of her love for Nike tennis shoes, and spelled out prom with the shoes and bought her flowers.  “I thought it was the perfect way to ask since I’m obsessed with shoes,” Dunbar said.

These boys receive an A plus for sweeping their girls off of their feet.

It is very rare to see a girl asking a guy to prom; well here’s a twist.  Junior Daniella Romano asked her date by making a poster that said “Don’t be fruity go to prom with this cutie” with a picture of herself next to it and also gave him fruit in the shape of a heart.  “Trying to keep it a surprise and making everything perfect was actually kind of hard,” Romano said.

Romano used to think that when guys asked girls it was so easy.  “Coming up with an original idea the fits the person you’re asking is hard,” Romano said, “I don’t know how guys come up with this stuff.”

Hope this gave some future prom-goers some helpful hints and ideas, good luck.
